Meet Our Team

Carmella Kane, MA, NHA

Nursing Home Administrator

Carmella Kane, MA, NHA received her Undergraduate Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Graduate Degree from Chestnut Hill College. She has been proudly serving local seniors since 1985 taking on roles in Hospice, Protective Services as well as long term care. Carmella became a Nursing Home Administrator in 2009 and has guided her teams with a hands-on, caring approach and was proudly named PHCA’s Nursing Home Administrator of the year in 2015.

Carmella is an avid quilter; she lives in Lansdowne and has an adult son and daughter-in-law. She is an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church and oversees numerous mission projects in her role as Mission Chairperson.

Shelia Kyser, RN, MSN

Director of Nursing

Shelia Kyser RN, MSN received both her Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees from Drexel University. She has been honored to work as a nurse since 1984. Shelia was employed for 18 years at Hahnemann University Hospital where she focused in Critical Care. She spent much of her tenure as the Director of Telemetry and Outpatient Cardiac Catheterization. That time was followed by 10 years spent with Penn Presbyterian Hospital as Nursing Director of Thoracic Surgery, Heart Failure, and Observation. Shelia has been a life long learner and has published four articles. She has continued to focus on the aspect of a patients care across the continuum of care which has brought her to her newfound home in the setting of post-acute and long term care.

Shelia lives locally in Media and when she is not working she enjoys the company of her 3 adult children, cooking, music and spending time at the shore.

Kelly Ellis

External Marketing Liaison

Kelly Ellis is the external marketing liaison for Westgate Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She is a graduate of Arcadia University with her Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration.  She comes to her role at Westgate with more than a decade of experience in long term care, post-acute rehabilitation, and personal care. Born and raised in Montgomery County, she now lives in Drexel Hill.  Kelly is driven by her desire to educate and help others. It is her goal to “ease the fear, worry and pain” associated with the decisions regarding placement in a skilled care facility.

If Kelly is not working or at home playing with her adorable cats you will probably find her out and about town. Kelly is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and is willing to travel to try something new!

Sharon Sanderson

Admissions Director / Business Office Manager

Sharon Sanderson is the Admissions Director/ Business Office Manager for Westgate Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Sharon lives in Philadelphia and received her degree in Business Administration from Delaware County Community College. She comes to Westgate Hills with over 10 years of Long-Term Care experience. Sharon loves a challenge and is able to face challenges head-on with the patients and their families while assisting in obtaining financial coverage for their stay. Sharon realized that transitioning into the role of Admissions Director also allowed her to educate and assist patients and caregivers up front while continuing to assist them throughout their stay.  Sharon likes to stay busy and never slows down if she is not at work you will find her spending time with her husband and her young children.  As a family, they enjoy traveling, movies, and bowling.
